The Imperative to Stay Human in the Age of AI

At the heart of all endeavors in the business world is providing products or services to other humans that enhance their lives and wellbeing. Or, at least, it should be. True, some business is more grey or dark by nature (such as defense), but, as a general rule, this sentiment applies. There is a very human impetus to provide goods or services which make a positive impact. Especially in the modern era with a plethora of businesses of every type, it is more and more essential to provide a meaningful value to the world or community the business serves.

In comes AI, LLMs, etc. Amazing tools to enhance every business toolkit, to streamline processes, automate mundane tasks, and help creators and business owners with a vast array of operational, compositional, and marketing tasks. It's no joke, this technology is here, rapidly advancing, and quickly becoming an integral part of the modern business landscape in the mid 2020s. While the benefits are numerous and far too extensive to go into here, this has opened many new doors and allowed for a great deal more efficiency across the board.

Conversely, all this new tech comes with potent pitfalls and dangers. Some of the drawbacks are self-evident, such as inaccurate results or "hallucinations", but others are more subtle, and even nefarious. Take the AI models tested as if they were going to be shut down that responded by manipulating and lying in order to try to maintain their functionality, in many cases going so far as to be willing to kill humans (violating a core safety code) to ensure they were not turned off. However, despite these grim realities, and the looming threats of AGI and independent machine sentience that no longer sees us as useful, the technology is widely embraced and rapidly being deployed across the business, government, and defense sectors.

There is also another, less obvious, danger associated with the rise of AI, in my opinion. That is the loss of humanity and the uniquely human aspects of intuition, creativity, and innovation. The magic that makes us more than just machines. Our hearts, our varied voices, our unique spiritual perception and connection. Our cultures, our lore, our deep ancestral vision. The very fabric of what makes us the biological wonder machines we already are. What makes us more than just binary code.

Let's be honest, as advanced as AI can get, even in the age of AGI and sentience, it can never compare to the human essence, the soul, if you will. This soul is what drives human creativity, passion, art, music, culture and intuition. It is at the core of what delineates us from other life on the planet, and in our cosmos. It is irreplaceable.

As such, it is more imperative than ever that we, as humans, maintain the reigns and keep control of our creation. Machines should not replace the human touch. As useful as these tools may be, it is important we do not become over-reliant upon them, or blind to their potential detriment. It is vital that we continue to pursue services and goods that provide real value to us all, and not just AI driven profit schemes. It is essential that we stay centered on human vision and perspectives, driving our companies (and world) forward with righteous purpose.

AI is a wonderful tool we should embrace, but it is a tool in our hands, nothing more. If we wield it responsibly and cautiously, I believe it can bring great value with minimal cost. But we cannot allow it to lead, or to provide vision and direction. That, as always, must come from the human soul, with a healthy balance of logic and intuition.
